Apple Java 1.3.1 Update 1 for OS X

is available via the Software Update preference panel and as a standalone download. From the Read Me file, "This update delivers improvements for text, mouse, and printing components in the Java 1.3.1 implementation for Mac OS X, and improves its overall stability and compatibility. The implementation of text components has been completely updated, resolving a number of issues found in the use of TextAreas and TextFields. Mouse behavior is improved, especially for mouse events that involve dragging in complex applications. Many printing issues have been resolved including multi-page printing and clipping issues." We installed the Java update on Mac OS X 10.1.3 and Mac OS X Server 10.1.3 on several desktops and PowerBooks without incident. [Dana Baggett]
