Apple Switches on X-Only Booting Announcement

Last September Steve Jobs announced that all new Macs sold in January 2003 and later would only boot up with Mac OS X and would run OS 9 in classic mode only. According to this CNet article, Apple has reneged slightly on that announcement by allowing education and some creative professional customers an option to buy certain OS 9 booting machines through June 2003. eMacs, iBooks and CRT iMacs purchased in the education channel will boot OS 9 as will special order Dual 1.25 GHz Power Macs.
