The Good

The iMac does not disappoint. Its appearance is just as elegant as it appears in Apple's ads. Some people may think it a little bigger than it seems in the ads, but it's still a very small computer when compared to just about any other PC out there.

The screen is exceedingly bright. While it is possible to adjust the brightness, I think that most people will get used to it and appreciate it. I've seen articles on the Web that state that Apple's LCDs are of higher quality and I really think that it's true. Even seeing one in the store doesn't really have the impact that it does when you turn it on for the first time at home. I'm guessing that most homes don't use florescent lighting.

Apple packs in a ton of software. The system boots into OSX and the very first thing a user does is personalize it. The iMac comes with six system restore CDs, three blank CDs, one blank DVD-R and iPhoto. iPhoto is not preinstalled.

The system is even quieter than a cube. Putting a CD or DVD in does cause a little noise, but still it's by far the quietest computer I have ever used.

I burned a one-hour DVD using iDVD. It took about three hours to burn. It worked in my PlayStation2 without a hitch.
