iTunes in Canada, Not Soon

according to an email sent to a Canadian reader and forwarded to us.

"I saw a post on-line about ITMS coming to Canada so I sent a email to the president of the group that has something to do with it. Here is his response. I find it interesting that they cut a deal with napster before itms."

Thank you for posting a question to the CMRRA web site (http://www.cmrra.ca).

Yes, we are presently in negotiations with Apple to license the iTunes Music Store for operation in Canada. Discussions have only just begun and, while we would like to see them up and running as quickly as possible, it's impossible to say when our negotiations will be successfully concluded. Rest assured that we want to license IMS, just as we have already licensed MusicNet, Napster and Puretracks to operate in Canada.
