Power Mac G4 (AGP) Quiet Fan Mod

Is the fan in your Power Mac G4's power supply too loud for you? Well, it was for reader Lee. He purchased an 80x80x25 mm Pabst fan (8412NGL) from endpcnoise.com. The Pabst fan runs at only 12 dB according to the web site--this is extremely quiet--and costs $17.95 plus S&H.

Says Lee, "After swapping it into the power supply, the difference in sound is dramatic! This procedure is not for the faint of heart, but offers a significant noise reduction for noiseaphobes like myself. The connector was different than the stock fan, so i had to do a bit of wire splicing. I might replace the 120mm large fan now...."
