Apple CEO Steve Jobs Delivered the Commencement Keynote Address at Stanford U. on Sunday

In his address to the 114th commencement at Stanford University in his home town of Palo Alto, CA, Steve Jobs covered his life story from being adopted to being ousted from the company he started to being diagnosed with deadly pancreatic cancer. He delivered his history with turns and reasons for events in his life that vary from those told in many books on his life and career--a softer and more caring person than has been portrayed. From his remarks, we learned for the first time that he was told that he had only six months to live when his pancreatic cancer was first diagnosed. His message was that one must see opportunity in adversity while pursuing one's dreams, something that his life and his accomplishments epitomize. In introducing Steve Jobs, Stanford University President John Hennessy praised him for being bold and striking out in new directions, a visionary who has partnered with academia almost from the outset to get computers in the hands of students and in classrooms.
