According to MacWEEK, Gateway 2000 claims to have taken the lead from Apple in the U.S. education market. Apple and another survey dispute this. I remember some ten years ago when Gateway 2000 was the "cheapest" of the PC market and we bought a few at our mostly Mac-populated institute for unenlightened visitors and the teaching lab. They've come a long way!
