Improving CompUSA?

Here are reader Paul Schreiber's suggestions:
  • "Locate the Apple store-in-a-store near the check out area at the FRONT of the store.
  • Put ALL software that is both Windows & Mac useable in the Mac section to increase the perception in customer minds of Mac software plentitude.
  • Put half the number of in stock peripherals from 3rd party manufacturers (monitors, printers, scanners, digital cameras & speakers) IN the Apple store, Most people don't know and need to that many non-Apple peripherals work on the Mac.
  • Show off unique Mac strengths such as it's ability to run two monitors simultaneously off one computer treating them as one large desktop. Would help sell more monitors! Or show a game like Quake networked to another adjacent Mac by AppleTalk or Ethernet and possibly networked to a Quake player on a Wintel machine in the store!
  • Have a copy of "Why Macintosh" (available on the Apple web site) and "Apple Masters" either as a printed 4 color brochure or as a Quicktime/Director movie or have the display Macs hooked up to the Net with all Pro Mac bookmarks.
  • Offer a special rotating incentive to buy Macs from CompUSA such as what Apple did with free or $75 rebates on their Quicktake 200 cameras. Perhaps, a software bundle, free speakers, rebates towards other peripherals....etc.
  • A CompUSA raffle for Mac buyers, for every x$ dollars spent on the Mac and initial peripheral purchases, you get so many chances to win in store gift certificates of values from $10 to $300. Or discount coupons of 20 to 50% on ANY store purchase (no more than two or three items per coupon)."

Kaleidoscope v1.8 (925K) is out.
