NEWS.COM also reported that Apple slipped from 5th to 8th in computer market sales share in the third quarter of calendar year 1997. MacOS Rumors 12/11 reported that Apple's operating system (Mac OS 8) sales share during the same time period was 33 percent reflecting the strength of Apple's installed base share as compared with new sales. However, PowerMac G3 sales are very strong while sales of other models are very weak portending a rebound in hardware share.
