Reader Jim Carr writes "... to say that I am seeing similar memory loss sometimes but not all times I use Netscape 4. I see similar discrepancies between what MemMapper and about this computer report as largest free block but only sometimes after Netscape 4 sessions. After other sessions, MemMapper and about this computer pretty much agree. Mac OS Purge has no effect for me. Restart is all that works. I see similar on 7100/66 and 8500/150."

It seems there are a number of RAM loss issues that need to be addressed in Mac OS 8.1.
