More BYTEmarks
In addition to those that I posted yesterday, reader David Badovinac provided BYTEmarks for his PowerMac 7300 with a PowerLogix PowerForce G3 275 cranked up to 315 MHz with 1 MB backside cache also running at 315 MHz. His scores, the highest yet, are:
| Computer/CPU/Cache/Bus | Integer Index | Floating Point Index |
|---|---|---|
| 7300/G3 315 MHz/1 MB/50 MHz | 8.967464 | 6.957673 |
These benchmarks are some 9% faster than those from my PowerForce G3 250 running at 289 MHz.
A short while ago Macs Only! addressed the disappearing Mac printer problem, asking for a parallel port on Macs and pointing out several software solutions. Macworld reviewed the latest version of PowerPrint 4.0 in the April issue. While PowerPrint 4.0 received a rating of 4.5 mice, it still took some 5 times longer to print a full page color image than a straight serial cable. [Thanks Dana Baggett.]
