7 Beam Drive delivers 6.7MB/sec reads in B&W G3 in the review on Accelerate Your Mac!. From Mike Breeden, "As I suspected it works well in the B&W G3 and I suspect in the beige G3 as well. Apple's cdrom driver (OS 8.5) was used and I was able to boot from the CD as well. It's very refreshing to see such an innovative product - I have always despised the slow response (often due to spin-up/spin-down of the motor) and noise of today's faster CDroms and this drive's 7 beam design does not require the extremely high RPMs to provide high performance. At $129 (SRP), I consider it a bargain."
