[11:00a] Good News--PowerLogix has Record Sales for 2000: From PowerLogix's marketing director Robin Sharp-Howdershelt, "Thanks in large part to the development of several popular upgrades for the iMac and Apple PowerBook G3's along with the continued success of their award-winning PowerForce G3 and G4 cards, PowerLogix today announced record sales during 2000. In addition, the company released their sales projections for the year 2001 centered around continued product development and an aggressive domestic sales strategy.

'We have been thrilled with the overwhelming demand for our upgrades this year,' said Rick Estes, Chief Operating Officer for PowerLogix R&D. 'Sales for 2000 topped out at 50% over 1999 and 2001 is projected to be over 400% higher than this year. While we have established ourselves in the international market during 2000, a very aggressive sales plan is in the works for the domestic channels in 2001.'

'The infusion of capital from our recent arrangement with Silicon Valley Bank has fueled the company in the area of product development. Several new and exciting products are being announced at the upcoming MacWorld Expo in San Francisco,' said Robin Sharp-Howdershelt, Director of Marketing. 'I think end users and resellers alike will be very pleased with the changes we have made.'

The company will be exhibiting in booth 407 in the South Hall of the upcoming MacWorld show."

[9:15a] Bad News--Newer Technology Closed Its Doors and will file for bankruptcy on January 8th according to an extensive article on MacCentral this morning. Newer has been primarily a manufacturer of CPU upgrades for Macs in recent years, one of the biggest, but has been flirting with going out of business for the past year. At Macworld NY '00 Newer introduced the iMAXpowr 466 MHZ upgrade for the early iMacs and MAXpowr G3-PB 466 MHz upgrade for G3 series PowerBooks. Newer has also provided great free software utilities like its Gauge Series, Gauge PRO and SpellTools, my favorite spellchecker. If you have a Newer product, make sure that you get the latest drivers now. Newer will be missed.
