Mac OS X 10.2.5 Initial Experience

Mac OS X 10.2.5 seems to be a very good update to us. We've updated several G4 Cubes (several of which have PowerLogix CPU upgrades), an LCD iMac 800, an iBook 500, an iBook 700 and a PowerBook 800, all without any problems to speak of. They run on wired and AirPort networks with cable or DSL internet access. Only the display resolution on an Apple 17" LCD Studio Display attached to one Cube was changed by the update. We have used 10.2.5 extensively over the weekend and have not run into any problems on any of the Macs.

There are new modem scripts with 10.2.5 so hopefully the disconnect problem has been solved. We had the problem with previous Mac OS X versions but resolved it by deleting the Apple scripts in the Library/Modem Scripts folder since they were duplicated in the System/Library/Modem Scripts folder.

Some people complained of low battery performance on their iBooks and PowerBooks with 10.2.4. We didn't have this problem. With our PowerBook G4 800 set to maximum power conservation (CPU reduced, AirPort off, screen set to last notch before blackout and hard drive spun down) we got over 3.5 hours on Apple's battery indicator when the plug was pulled and the time stabilized. Same with 10.2.5.
