Consolidation is On--HP/Compaq and Fry's/Outpost

are the latest couples. Hewlett Packard is buying Compaq for $25 billion in stock according to this News.Com article. The computer manufacturing companies will be nearly as large as IBM when combined. After backing away initially, Fry's Electronics, a giant Southern California electronics warehouse retailer with stores in TX, AZ, and OR, is buying Outpost.Com according to this MacCentral article. We always visit Fry's when at our West Coast offices in San Diego, CA. Outpost.Com was one of the first on line computer retailers and started business as the Cyberian Outpost. Outpost.Com will remain in business under its own name according to MacCentral.
