Periodic Pause Problem With 8.6 And 333MHz iMac

Apple has identified the problem and offers two workarounds. Either place a CD in the drive or disable Apple CD/DVD Driver extension. There have been reports of other types of Macs experiencing the stall with 8.6 but only the 333 MHz Mac is mentioned in the TIL.
