ALERT! Open Transport Tuner v1.0
is available for download (175 KB .bin) from Apple. Everybody running Mac OS 9 or 8.6 on a new iMac, iBook or G4 on an open or dedicated internet connection like cable or DSL, please download and install this patch ASAP. Don't expose your Mac to being used for evil. From the ReadMe:
"OT Tuner 1.0 switches off an option in Open Transport that would cause a Macintosh to respond to certain small network packets with a large Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) packet. This update prevents Macintosh computers from being the cause of certain types of Denial of Service (DOS) issues. OS Required: Mac OS 9; Mac OS 8.6 for PowerMacintosh G4, iBook, and iMac (Slot-loading) computers."
